METHODOLOGY AND EVIDENCE
A calculation should show what supports it.
Made IQ reconstructs a defensible production representation from available product data, applies governed calculation logic and keeps unresolved information visible.
The Made IQ Product Knowledge Matrix
Our Product Knowledge Matrix is the method behind the product record. It connects product composition, construction, production steps, supplier information and sources, then identifies recurring production patterns across a portfolio. Each connection remains traceable to its source or is marked as an assumption that needs review. The matrix does not calculate impact by itself: governed factors and the available product data determine which results can be calculated.
Source facts remain distinguishable
Imported values retain their source context. Declared product information, derived route information, governed defaults, test results and independently verified evidence are not treated as interchangeable.
No silent zeroes
Missing information is not converted to zero. A supported default may be used when its scope and model basis are recorded; otherwise the affected result remains partial or unresolved.
Impact and evidence answer different questions
An environmental result describes calculated impact within a defined scope. Coverage and evidence status describe how much product-specific information supports that result. A certificate, test or other source can change—and may lower—the calculated impact when it substantiates a more favourable calculation input and its claim, validity and product scope justify that change.
Product and portfolio impact
Product impact applies governed lifecycle or process intensities to the relevant product mass and separately modelled absolute components. Where a verified or customer-supplied quantity is available, portfolio impact can aggregate product impact across the relevant production, purchasing or sales period. Quantity remains private operational data unless explicitly published.
Stable public passports
The public passport is an output layer, not the reasoning engine. A stable QR destination can show a newer approved publication while source files, internal review information and proprietary calculation controls remain in the private workspace.
Method boundaries
Made IQ is designed to support Digital Product Passport readiness and governed environmental calculations. It is not legal advice, product certification or independent lifecycle-assessment assurance. Product-specific legal requirements remain dependent on applicable delegated acts and implementation rules.
